The Global Perspectives Car Wash and BBQ/Bottle Drive was the first major event we had in the program. I had lots of fun, but at the same time I learned new lessons and realized new things. As we were sorting through the bottles, I came to see how hard it is for those who were less fortunate to gather money in order to not go hungry. The smell and the feeling of the stickiness on my hands was not very pleasant. While washing cars, I realized something was a little ironic. In order to raise money to help those in need, we wasted gallons upon gallons of clean drinking water that could have been used to help those in drought, or those that lack access to clean water. Just like the coin drive, it really opens my eyes to how fortunate we are to be living in Canada.
